A bummer for Gus

It’s bad enough to be forced into getting a tattoo on your butt. But when it’s of a Panther and your favourite team is the Roosters – which were downed by said Panthers by just one point on the weekend – no wonder Gus Worland (pictured) is biting down on a towel while the tattooist’s tool bores into the flesh of the broad canvas he’s offered up for the task.

Meanwhile, Panther fan (and member of the Panther’s 1991 Premiership winning team) Mark Geyer is feeling no pain as he looks on from behind, commentating on proceedings, as the tattoo was applied this morning at a parlour in North Bondi, right in the heart of Roosters territory.

As we reported last week, the two Triple M Grill Team co-hosts bet each other that their team will prevail and advance towards the NRL finals. The Penrith Panthers were clear underdogs which emboldened  Gus to talk up his beloved Sydney City Roosters’s chances all week – and for most of the match they led too – only to see his dreams dashed seconds before full time as Panther’s captain Jamie Soward potted an improbable field goal to close out their more fancied rivals. Ouch!

The artwork for the bet was pre-determined as an impression of each mascot designed by MG’s 7 year old daughter Rafferty. We’re not sure whether young Rafferty will get to see her handiwork in situ, but she will know that she is famous for her art – albeit in a place where the sun don’t shine.

If they have an Archibald Prize for portraits what would they call something similar for art at the other end?
