Bob’s Blanket Appeal stitches up the weekend

It started out as an attempt by Sydney’s 2CH Breakfast Team Indira Naidoo & Trevor Sinclair to crochet a blanket for the legendary Bob Rogers.

But when they reached out to their listeners for assistance in creating a giant blanket, the overwhelming response saw hundreds of squares donated.

Bob’s Blanket Appeal now means all squares created by Sydney’s 2CH listeners, will be made into blankets for the Wayside Chapel to be distributed to those in need over winter.

Indira, a Wayside Chapel Ambassador, says, “It’s been so heart-warming receiving hundreds of beautiful squares made with love by our listeners. … I know how much they’ll be appreciated”.

Trevor adds, “Arriving in the studio each day on these cold winter mornings to find even more crocheted and knitted squares from our listeners is truly delightful. It’s thrilling to see a community coming together like this to warm the homeless”.

This weekend, at the Reginald Murphy Centre, a volunteer team from “Sewing For Charity Australia” will be stitching the squares onto the blankets donated by QANTAS prior to presenting them to the Wayside Chapel for distribution.
