Ben Davis joins 4BC

Journalist and television news presenter Ben Davis will join News Talk 4BC as the host of Drive in 2014.

The appointment comes after 18 years with 7 News Brisbane that has seen Ben build a loyal following as he has travelled the globe covering major sporting events from the Ashes at Lords to World Cups and Wallaby tours.

Davis said: “What I love about radio is its immediacy. I have always been a keen follower of news, so the move to Drive feels right, especially after 18 years at 7 learning from some of the best in the business, the likes of Kay McGrath, Pat Welsh and the late David Fordham. I’ve learnt how to get to the heart of a story, and ask the tough questions.

“The program will focus on the issues that affect us day to day. But overall it will be all about the city I love – Brisbane, the best in the world. I also love talk-back and the ability to share stories with listeners really excites me.”

News Talk 4BC General Manager Anthony Frangi said he is proud to have Ben joining the station and adding to the new line up of presenters.

Frangi said: “Ben Davis is a real talent, with energy to boot. Having Ben at the helm, Drive will be a highly-charged, informative show packed with plenty of punch. Ben also has a real connection to the community; he has been loved by 7 News viewers for years, so he comes to us with a high degree of respect and credibility.”

Ben began his career as a part-time cadet at the Ten Network while completing his degree in Communication (Journalism) at the Queensland University of Technology. He joined 7 News in 1995 and over the past 18 years has reported some of the biggest global sporting moments.

Ben is also an accomplished MC and well known in corporate circles. Married to Beck Davis, the father of three has a daughter with type-1 diabetes, leading him to take on a role as an Ambassador for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to raise awareness and funds for a cure.

Drive with Ben Davis will begin on News Talk 4BC in early January.
