From the bedroom to Brisbane

Nova 106.9 will welcome Tim Wong-See to the mic in the afternoon slot in 2016.

The innovative announcer was most recently heard in late nights on the Nova Network based out of the Sydney Nova studios.

General Manager and Program Director, Jay Walkerden, said he is looking forward to Tim bringing his unique style to afternoons.

“Tim is the perfect fit for the Nova Brisbane family as he’s a little bit loose and a whole lot of fun.

“He’s the equivalent to an on-air afternoon caffeine hit which I’m sure our listeners are going to love.”

Tim has been working in radio since the age of 12 when he built his own pirate radio station at his home in West Pennant Hills in Sydney.

For two years Tim broadcast his station in his local area, playing music and discussing local topics, until he eventually was shut down by the Australia Communications and Media Authority.

Tim’s DIY setup became the unique starting point for his professional radio career.

He landed an on-air gig at his community radio station Alive 90.5, before being accepted into the Australian Film Television and Radio School in 2013.

After graduating from AFTRS at the end of 2013, Tim scored an internship at Nova 96.9, where he soon discovered he was a long way from broadcasting from his bedroom when he met Katy Perry on day two.

Nova was so impressed with his broadcasting abilities, they offered him his first metro on-air gig as mid-dawns announcer for Nova 96.9, and then just two weeks later, moved him into late nights in 2015.

Tim is in the process of packing his headphones and planning his move to Brisbane.
