Be part of another story of hope for 98five’s June Appeal

This June 98five Sonshine FM is celebrating 29 years of broadcasting hope-filled listener stories, and is asking the community to help write more stories over the next 12 months by donating to their ‘Stories of Hope’ appeal.

As a listener-supported station, 98five Sonshine FM depends on the generous donations of its community to continue broadcasting hope across Perth and throughout Western Australia.

They need $410,000 this appeal, which officially runs between Monday 26 June and Friday 30 June, to continue making a positive difference in the lives of families and individuals struggling with loneliness and hardship like listener Christine.

“For mums like me, I don’t have that much support, I don’t have a big family but you guys are my family…thank you for giving peace to those who may be lonely,” Christine said.

98five general manager Bevan Jones said this year’s theme, Stories of Hope, has come from thousands of listener stories already broadcast over the past few decades.

“Our leadership team was sitting down at lunch earlier this year and when we realised we had been broadcasting for 29 years, the question was asked ‘how many stories of hope do you think have happened over those 29 years?’ – this year’s June Appeal theme was that natural,” Mr Jones said.

“We looked back through our email and sound archives and found we have nearly a couple of thousand stories of listeners’ lives being changed for good and by God while listening to 98five Sonshine FM — that we know of. We wonder how many stories of hope we don’t know about. So this June we’ve set about finding more of the listener stories we haven’t heard yet.

“We’ve heard stories from a mum who loves having our family friendly content on in the car with the kids to heart-wrenching stories of listeners battling their way out of life threatening addictions with the daily encouragement and hope 98five has brought into their lives.

“I encourage everyone to tune in this June to hear amazing stories of hope and please support 98five’s June Appeal. As a listener-supported station we want to write more stories of hope over the next 12 months with your help.”
