Austereo and Communicator target mobile consumers with SMS

Austereo and Communicator have joined forces “to create powerful sales promotions packages using radio driven SMS and Web competition platforms”.

“In a first for the Australian market,” these interactive consumer promotion packages offer “a fast turnaround, high return on investment solution for all clients, in particular Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) brands.”

Austereo’s Director of Sales Sydney, Chris Parker said: “Radio, unlike television, is a mobile and impulse medium and not only reaches its audience at home, but also in the car and at work.”

“Next generation integrated radio promotions combining SMS and Web entry mechanics are proving to be ideal for radio listeners as they enable them to respond to the advertisers call-to-action immediately, no matter where they are.”

“In addition, it is a particularly attractive low cost proposition for FMCG clients, who traditionally have had to look to more expensive on-pack or television options.”

Using Austereo and Communicator’s model, a number of successful campaigns have been developed for blue-chip FMCG clients. In a recent campaign for an established body spray, both SMS and email platforms were used for a proof of purchase promotion. Response was “excellent” with sales increasing by more than 19% during the promotional period.

“Whether it’s a brand campaign or a sales promotion, radio motivates and engages listeners to interact with the client.”

Austereo and Communicator ”have been working together on integrating the power of radio, SMS and Web for over three years” and the result is “an effective model” with a proven track record for generating results.
