Amanda claims victory, Jonesy demands a rematch

They are usually on the same team, but on Sunday there was plenty of friendly rivalry when  WSFM’s Brendan “Jonesy” Jones and Amanda Keller took to the water for a dragon boat race as part of Sydney’s Chinese New Year festivities.

They spent weeks recruiting celebrities, listeners and a few experienced paddlers to help them out and join ‘Team Amanda’ or ‘Team Jonesy’ for the race at Darling Harbour on Sunday.

Team Amanda – Ch 10’s The Living Room’s Miguel Maestre and Barry Dubois, The Biggest Loser trainer Shannon Ponton, Dr Charlie Teo, Bondi Rescue’s Bruce “Hoppo” Hopkins and Amanda’s son Liam.
Team Jonesy – Guy Sebastian, Erin Molan, Cameron Girdleston (Olympic silver medalist rowing), and Jonesy’s son Morgan

The Dragon Boat races are one of the biggest events of the 2017 Sydney Chinese New Year Festival.

More than 5,000 paddlers churned up the water as thousands of spectators lined the banks of Cockle Bay to watch the spectacular 12-metre-long Dragon Boats battle it out for the morning of racing.

Amanda’s team won the race by the closest of margins, but now Jonesy is demanding a rematch.
