All hail Cale

NOVA 919’s afternoon jock Cale Porter has just been on the ride of a lifetime.

Keen to get involved with a charity, Cale put up his hand to be part of Life Changing Adventures, a new reality TV show with a huge community benefit.

Hosted by singer Ricki-Lee Coulter the participants are required to raise funds and awareness for the show’s nominated charity, this time around it was Can: Do 4 Kids,

“I wanted to help change the lives of those who are deaf, blind or sensory impaired in our community”.

Rather than go on-air and solicit for donations, Cale did the hard yards giving up his own time and organising a number of events over nine months including comedy nights and BBQ’s,

“I hadn’t done much with charities in the past, so this opportunity was perfect for me to do something good for people in need and for me to learn and experience just how achievable it is to make a positive difference”.

Once he raised the funds Cale and the rest of the participants were whisked away to New Zealand for a week of high-energy challenges that would test their mettle, including the Nevis Swing that saw Cale dangling 160 metres above a canyon.

“Everyday was full on and exhilarating and I was able to do things I never thought I’d be able to – the kids that are part of Can:Do 4 Kids face challenges everyday, so it put things into perspective”.

Take a look at Cale’s week in New Zealand and keep en eye out for the show screening nationally soon.
