All good things must come to an end

It was the end of an era this morning as Trevor Leutton turns off the microphone in the 4BU studio for the last time.

Trevor is embarking on a well-earned retirement from the industry he has given most of his working life to.

“I started work in radio after long wanting to be part of the industry since a small boy listening to 4BC in Brisbanesaid Trevor.

Trevor started in 1974 at 4SB Kingaroy doing Nights and then worked up to Breakfast and Programme Manager. He then moved to Cairns to work for 4AM Mareeba as the Promotions Manager for 12 months.

In 1981 Trevor moved to Bundaberg’s 4BU on Afternoons, then moving to Breakfast and later became Programme Manager.

“I then left in 1997 to work for Alan Powell Ford for 8 years whilst at the same time doing Saturday Breakfast and the Jukebox every Saturday night. I finally returned to 4BU fulltime in 2005” added Trevor.

4BU General Manager Trish Mears said it was the end of an era. “Trevor has been an “institution” on Classic Hits 4BU, with generations listening to him over the years” Trish said. “We will miss him, as will Bundaberg, but we wish Trevor and Kath a wonderful retirement, with time to enjoy life to the full”.

Meanwhile, Trevor has one main aim. “I’m looking forward to a new chapter in our lives…and being able to sleep in!”.

4BU Content Director Mark Hamel will be taking over the Breakfast Show until a new Breakfast Host is announced.
