AFTRS students on air for their final broadcast NEXT

NEXT has been designed from the ground up by the students as their final broadcast assignment of the year.

The class has worked with more than 50 industry specialists throughout the year to learn everything they need to know to be job ready.

NEXT is a showcase of their talents and the format has been conceived following a blue sky session with Cherie Romaro and a thorough examination of the data to identify a gap in the Sydney market with Ann-Maree Nolan from ratings company GfK.

AFTRS Radio Program Leader Lisa Sweeney says the students are already attracting a lot of interest from potential employers.

“The class of 2016 contains some real talent, voices we will be hearing a lot from in the future.”

NEXT is a hybrid talk and music station aimed at 18 to 24-year-old Sydneysiders, with a secondary audience of 25 to 39 year-olds.

The station’s branding aims to offer a format which is affirmative, bold, innovative, genuine, easy going and fun.
