AFTRS graduates score gigs around the country

There’s been more job successes in recent weeks for AFTRS Graduate Diploma of Radio alumni with jobs won in both commercial and ABC stations.

2016 Graduate Diploma student Kit Mochan is heading off to Western Australia to take on the role of ABC  rural reporter in Albany.

Kit (left) will be an on-the-road reporter as well as presenting a daily, local rural report.

She will also  contribute to WA Country Hour and national rural programming, on Radio, TV and online.

Fellow classmate Liza Harvey (right) continues to be in demand on short term contracts in the ABC’s music space, working throughout this year with Double J and Triple J.

On the commercial front, Nat ‘Herbie’ Herbstreit (main picture) is the new Hit93.1 Riverina breakfast co-host.

Nat graduated last year and replaces ACRA Award winner and AFTRS Alumni (2013) Ash Blucher who is heading overseas.

Nat joins Michael ‘Whitto’ Whittington, also from AFTRS class of 2013. The ‘Whitto & Herbie’ breakfast show starts in June.

Matty Harrison (left) has also just scored a job in breakfast radio – as co-host on SnowFM in Jindabyne.

He’ll also be in charge of social media for the station.

“I feel extremely lucky,” Matty said. “This is an incredible opportunity – a huge thanks to the AFTRS Radio team, they do incredible work there.

“A year ago this was just a dream for me, fast forward 12 months and I’m about to start my career!!”

These recent graduates prove the veracity of AFTRS’ claim that its graduates can “Get a Great Job in Radio”.
