ABC Regional Production fund succeeding

The ABC’s Regional Production fund is succeeding in its aim to source more radio programming from Regional Australia. In September 2001 the ABC won $750,000 worth of funds from the Federal Government to showcase regional talent throughout Australia and has used it to encourage independent producers from regional areas to submit program proposals.

Currently there are about 20 projects in the planning stage or already underway including: a series on outback people and places; an oral history of highway one; features on the Murray-Darling Basin and a history of the Gold Coast. Programs will be heard across a range of the ABC’s radio networks.
