The ABC News constructive journalism approach reports on problems and solutions

The news industry is often accused of using fear and sensationalism to draw attention to stories. In survey after survey, an increasing number of people say they avoid news because it makes them feel stressed, negative or helpless. This is a worry for many reasons, including concerns news avoiders may be more susceptible to believing misinformation or "fake news" shared on social media... One of the ways the ABC has been tackling this problem is by taking a different approach to reporting some of the world's problems. This approach is called solutions-focussed or constructive journalism.
