92.5 Gold FM stand up to domestic violence

92.5 Gold FM’s Richard, Bridge and Spida are standing up against domestic violence by hosting a stand up paddle boarding group event at Currumbin Creek next week.

Working in conjunction with White Ribbon Australia, Gold FM are hoping to raise awareness for the cause and put a stop to domestic violence across the Gold and Tweed Coasts.

Richard, Bridge and Spida will be broadcasting their breakfast show live from the Currumbin Boatshed on Friday 18 September, and will be stand up paddle boarding along the creek from 7am.

Gold FM listeners are encouraged to come along and be a part of the morning in two ways: by taking part in stand-up paddle boarding on the morning, and by making an individual pledge to stop violence against women.

Gold FM Breakfast Host Bridget Daley feels extremely passionate about domestic violence, and hopes the Gold Coast and Tweed public will get involved in the morning:

“Many men and women are suffering in silence behind closed doors with this epidemic; we need to open the door and shine the light on it. As a woman who has suffered at the hands of someone whom I thought would protect me from a dangerous world, and friends I have provided shelter for in similar situations, it distresses me greatly that more is not implemented to assist woman and men who need support when they are at their most vulnerable. I want to be the voice for those that feel they are silenced. Together as a community we want the locals on board to Stand Up to Domestic Violence,”

Daley’s co-host, Richard Fowler, agrees:

“We need to put a stop to this unacceptable violence. There needs to be more done to raise awareness; not only on the Gold Coast & Tweed but nationally. Any type of violence is disgraceful but even more so in a domestic situation that affects families. Everyone has the right to feel safe in their own homes”

And finally co-host Spida Everitt said:

“Domestic Violence happens to both females and males, yet it is something that affects the whole family. This ripple effect needs to be ridden from our community as we stand up for this important cause.”

The Stand Up to Domestic Violence event is a free event by 92.5 Gold FM with support from White Ribbon Australia.
