$850 000 Allocated to Rub Out Regional Radio Blackspots

Radio black spots will be a thing of the past for 31 regional and remote communities, with more than $850 000 being allocated to provide new and improved services.

Commercial radio broadcasters in regional communities in Queensland, NSW, Tasmania and WA will receive Commonwealth funding to help with equipment, installation, site establishment and licence fees.

Under the Federal Government’s Commercial Radio Blackspots Program, this will bring to 66, the number of communities to benefit from new or improved radio services.

Further remote communities are being considered for funding under the program, which runs until June 2005.
