702 ABC Sydney presenters frock up with Opera Australia

Not ones to miss out on being part of a major Sydney cultural event, ABC 702 presenters Robbie Buck, Richard Glover, Wendy Harmer and Dominic Knight paid a visit to Opera Australia’s costume department.

The results speak for themselves.

Robbie Buck has gone a step further, inviting listeners to create their own Sydney opera plot.

We want an opera that is as big as our city” said Robbie.

“2016 has already been a big year for Sydney – people being terrorised by spiders in salad bags, politicians facing social media meltdowns and protest rallies throughout the city. The perfect inspiration for an opera.

“We’re thinking forbidden love across suburbs, drama at a major new development, or the many tragedies of social media”.

Opera Australia’s Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini is always on the look out to champion local talent.

“We think Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour is the quintessential Sydney experience, so we’re thrilled to have 702 ABC Sydney and their listeners so involved.”

I’m sure there’s plenty of opera worthy star-crossed lovers out there so I look forward to hearing their ideas and welcoming everyone down to this beautiful harbourside event, it really will be our most spectacular to date and not to be missed,” he said.
