4KQ the only radio station featured on first ever Brisbane Monopoly Board

Brisbane’s 4KQ is the exclusive radio partner for the first ever Brisbane version of the world’s greatest board game, Monopoly.

The official launch in South Bank saw 4KQ Breakfast hosts, Laurel and Gary join Mr Monopoly himself and Brisbane’s Lord Mayor Graham Quirk to announce the locations on the board while showcasing an over-sized version to an excited audience.

Players of the Brisbane game, available from today, are urged to Pass Go and Advance to the Community Chest which features the 4KQ logo, earning the station’s proud spot in the history of the world’s most iconic and well loved board game.

In all, 22 Brisbane and greater Brisbane property landmarks were selected to replace the famous London streets from the original board after the public was invited to offer up their suggestions via email and Facebook earlier in the year.

Other Brisbane landmarks featured include the heritage-listed Story Bridge, quirky and appealing tourist destination the Mt Coot-tha Lookout, Australia’s very first entertainment district, Fortitude Valley, sporting hot spots The Gabba and Suncorp Stadium – plus many more including Brisbane’s premier lifestyle, cultural and entertainment hub South Bank, who hosted the launch event.

4KQ’s Content Director Barry Drinkwater said: “As Brisbane locals, we are honoured to have our official spot on the official Brisbane Monopoly Board alongside many other world-class landmarks and buildings that our beautiful city has to offer.

Barry continues: “We are proud of our position on the board’s ‘Community Chest’, symbolising our connection with our listeners in the community whom we feel privileged to bring the local news, current affairs and entertainment to each day.”

The Brisbane edition of Monopoly will be available from today, October 19th.

Meanwhile, in Sydney, top rating talk station 2GB is that city’s ‘Community Chest’ station on the Monopoly board.
