4BH to become MAGIC 882

The release earlier this week of the new on air line up for 4BC is not the end of the big news for Fairfax Radio in Brisbane.

It’s been announced today that 4BH will be re-launched as Magic 882 in 2014.

In the media release announcing the re-brand Fairfax says the station will “reflect Brisbane’s modern lifestyle, featuring songs the listeners know and love from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s through to the adult contemporary hits of today”.

The announcing line up will include Moyd Kay, moving to Magic 882 breakfast from 4BC afternoons, Ian Keenan coming from 4KQ into Mornings and Greg Victor, making the move from Mornings to Drive.

4BH General Manager Anthony Frangi said he is delighted to see the new direction the much loved radio station is taking.
“It’s really exciting to witness the evolution of the station and just as our city grows and adapts, so too will Magic 882.
The station’s presenters all have a love for Brisbane and radio, with Ian making the move from 4KQ after 20 years; his passion for the music we play, infectious personality and loyal following makes him the perfect choice for Mornings in 2014.”

The re-brand will bring 4BH in line with the Fairfax AM music station in Melbourne, Magic 1278. No doubt there will be some operational and sales synergies in this, but no word at this stage whether any networked programs may be introduced.
