Traditionally on the 29th of February in a leap year, women can propose marriage. On 3BO yesterday, Aimee Parker from Bendigo proposed to her long-term boyfriend, the station’s morning announcer Ben Jones, live on are. And he turned her down.
Jones told the Bendigo Advertiser, “As flattered as I was, obviously I’d hope to do it at a more fitting time.”
Aimee Parker responded – “But I don’t have my dignity, do I.”
Jones had had calls from all over the world about the stunt, most of them in support of his decision. He said: “My friends and family know it’s all fine, I think they understand the radio segment was a bit put on, and wasn’t taken too seriously. People are seeing the lighter side to it.”
