3AW night announcer Bruce Mansfield diagnosed with cancer

Tuesday 08 September, 2015
3AW presenters and listeners show their support of Bruce Mansfield after prostate cancer diagnosis.

Mansfield has been on extended leave while overcoming deep vein thrombosis, which he developed while traveling overseas.

Further tests led doctors to discover the cancer.

Mansfield was in good spirits when he spoke to his nightline co-host Phil Brady as well as Simon Owens on Monday night describing his diagnosis:

“The prognosis isn’t good phil and i’m going to incorporate a lot of people who would be feeling very much like me at the moment, very weak, very behind the 8 ball… I do have a case of prostate cancer not brought on by anything overseas but that’s the diagnosis at the moment. I went for tests today and everything is pretty well clear. This could not be operated on but is treatable.”

3AW stated that Mansfield is not expected back on air while he undergoes treatment.
