2UE and ABC Journos nominated for Walkley Awards

Radio reporters have featured prominently in this year’s Walkley Award nominations for journalistic excellence. ABC Radio’s Peter Cave and Tim Palmer, and 2UE News Director Clinton Maynard are all up for awards.

Clinton Maynard has told radioinfo he is honoured to have been named a finalist and to be nominated with such esteemed company such Tim Palmer and Peter Cave:

“As the Head of News at 2UE I’m proud to be representing the station but also commercial radio. It would be great to see other commercial stations nominated – but this shows that 2UE continues to lead the country when it comes to quality radio journalism.”

More than 1300 entries were received for the awards this year with a total of 126 nominees announced in the Walkley shortlist this week. Nominees will now go on for judging by the Walkley Advisory Board across 34 categories in print, radio, television, photography and all media.
