2ME to broadcast from the Sydney Easter Show

Sydney’s commercial Arabic language radio station 2ME, has been asked by the Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) to broadcast from this year’s Royal Easter Show.  2ME will be the first ethic radio station to broadcast onsite for the entire period of the Royal Easter Show, from April 5 to 18.

2ME General Manager John Martin has told radioinfo: “We were surprised to be approached but very excited to take part in such an iconic event – it will be a great way for us to celebrate 15 years on Sydney’s airwaves.”

The station will debut its state-of –the-art mobile broadcasting facility at the show.  The six tonne facility features 360 degree glass, five microphones, two mixers, a live satellite television feed and nine screens, which may carry sponsors advertisements.

“The open design of the facility will enable many in the audience to physically witness the ‘magic of radio’ for the first time,” says Martin.

The unit has been exclusively designed to carry removable signage so that organisations and advertisers may brand the unit “as if they own it.”

The station has consistently topped surveys measuring media consumption of Arabic language media, according to Martin. “With ABS Census data showing Arabic as the 2nd most spoken language in New South Wales (after English), we expect to draw many of our listeners to the Easter Show, which may be the first ever visit for some.”

2ME is on air at AM 1638, and can also be heard on the new at the link below.
