10 Comedians help fire ravaged Islanders laugh again

Last week MIX 102.3’s Jodie & Soda with Erin Phillips took The Garden of Unearthly Delights to South Australia’s Kangaroo Island which was devastated by bushfires earlier this year.

More than 1,500 KI locals turned out for the free event with entertainment provided by 10 comedians and performers who donated their time including Tom Gleeson, Frank Woodley, Harley Breen, Mix 102.3’s Mark ‘Soda’ Soderstrom and many more.

The idea of transporting the Garden of Unearthly Delights from Adelaide’s East parklands to the island originally stemmed from an on-air conversation between Soda and Erin Phillips as a way to boost morale for those affected by the recent catastrophicbushfires as they begin to rebuild.

‘Soda’ said, “It has been an unbelievably tough time for them (on the Island) and a massive thank you to all involved. It was so great to see such a fantastic turnout.”
