triple j, Double J celebrate Aus music during November

triple j, Double J and triple j Unearthed go full Aussie in November as part of their Ausmusic Month, a month-long celebration of Australian music.

This year there will be more live music than ever before, putting the spotlight on emerging acts as well as artists who have been championed by the ABC from the start of their career.

Included this year, Missy Higgins & Friends Live, an intimate show in the Melba Spiegeltent in Melbourne.

Joining her for some collaborations and covers are her closest friends and family, including Peter Garrett, Kasey Chambers, Dan Sultan, Gretta Ray, Ben Abraham and David Higgins.

Hosted by Double J Mornings presenter and ABC Music Correspondent Zan Rowe, the 90min performance be aired across ABC, iview and Double J from 8.40pm Sun 25 Nov.

Excited to take to the stage for Ausmusic Month, Missy Higgins says “This show is going to be so fun, I’ve always wanted to play in the Melba Spiegeltent and to have such incredible guests joining me on stage just tops it off. My career all started because of winning triple j Unearthed way back in 2001 so to be invited by the ABC to headline their Ausmusic Month celebration feels like a pretty cool ‘coming full circle’ moment. It’s going to be very special.”

Live music is back on tv with The Set, hosted by triple j’s Dylan Alcott and Linda Marigliano, and featuring some of Australia’s most exciting talent, performing original material and unique collaborations in a purpose-built share house.

On Friday Nov 23rd Veronica & Lewis will announce the triple j Australian Album of the Year, Double J Australian Artist of the Year, triple j Unearthed Artist of the Year and Australian Music Video of the Year

Across triple j, the months includes all-Aussie Like A Version covers from 7.30am Fridays, kicking off with Amy Shark this week, as well as Live at the Wireless sets from top Aussie acts Courtney Barnett, Flight Facilities, Tash Sultana and Parkway Drive from 8pm Mondays, and the stories behind the songs from The Rubens and Paul Kelly on Inspired.

Declan Byrne will take an in-depth look at the WA music scene on Home & Hosed.

Double J are airing all-Aussie Live at The Wireless performances from The Superjesus, Dave Graney, Sarah Blasko, Steve Smyth and Missy Higgins, 7pm Tuesdays, then diving deep on the J Files with iconic Australian artists like Kylie, Missy Higgins and Spencer P Jones, as well as influential hip hop label Elefant Traks, 8pm Thursdays.
