Richard Mercer is taking a breaking after joining Mix 106.5 in July 1997 as the new night time presenter.  Love Song Dedications was born soon after and went on to become ARN’s longest running program – building a loyal fan base thanks to Richard’s unique interviewing style, which always made for compelling listening.  A guilty pleasure for many, the show ran for 17 successful years, winding up in December 2013.  
 
Dubbed the ‘Love God’, Richard’s name became synonymous with ‘love’ and the immense popularity of the show spawned 7 Love Song Dedications compilation CD’s.  In 2000, Love Song Dedications, became Mix 106.5’s first program to reach #1 overall, with a 13.8% market share, it continued to rate above the station average, retaining the No. 1 position again numerous times.
 
2014 saw Richard change stations and launch a brand new show, ‘Your Song’ on WSFM 101.7.  No longer the ‘Love God’, Richard once again evolved as a presenter, showcasing his versatility, while not losing any of the warmth that listeners had come to associate with him.  In his first survey for WSFM Richard almost doubled the ratings figure and helped to take the station to No. 1 FM .
 
After a highly successful career spanning over 30 years radio legend, Richard made many fans and many friends with a radio show that will remain forever in Australian radio history and in our hearts. 
 
We’re sure he’ll be back. But for now, it’s time for Richard to enjoy life and relax.
