Rebecca Wilson has passed away overnight. She was suffering from breast cancer.

The sports reporter and radio presenter kept news of her cancer quiet, as she continued working right up until a week ago.

News of Rebecca's passing saddened CRA Conference delegates today, and she was acknowledged by several speakers as a great reporter and broadcaster.

Her husband John Hartigan and sons Tom and Will this morning said:

“Our amazing Bec lost her long battle against breast cancer early today.

Joe Sands funeral details

A memorial service will be held for Joe Sands this Tuesday March 22 at 2pm on the Gold Coast.

Joe passed away last week from cancer.


The service will be held at Mosaic Church, 120 Mudgeeraba Street, Mudgeeraba on the Gold Coast.

Attendees are invited to gather afterwards at Burleigh Heads to celebrate Joe's life.

Host of MIX 1049’s morning show “360” Pete Davies, lost his battle with cancer last night and passed away surrounded by his family in Brisbane Royal Hospital.

Pete had been diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus and had been undergoing chemotherapy and surgery.

The very close team at Northern Territory Broadcasters are devastated at the loss of a man who is considered a close friend and mentor to many.

Reg James funeral details

Reg James’ funeral will be held next Tuesday 28th July, at 2:00pm
at St Swithun's Anglican Church, 2A Telegraph Rd, cnr Merrivale Rd, PYMBLE.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to The Heart Foundation.

Reg James, who started work as the office boy and ended up as General Manager of Grace Gibson Productions, passed away peacefullythis week, aged 86, surrounded by his family (see our earlier report).

South Coast commercial radio identity Murray Peters has passed away.

This tribute to Murray was published on the 2ST Nowra website, and was written by breakfast host Pete Brandtman.


Earlier this week we lost a buddy from the 2ST family. Murray Peters.

Murray took ill last September, he was getting tired all the time and didn't know why.

So it was off to the doctor for a check up and it wasn't good news.

Former 2MG and 2DU presenter Pat Saunders passed away last week in Narromine. A memorial service will be held at Narromine Aero Club from 2pm tomorrow (Monday, March 9).

A tribute in the Dubbo Daily Liberal says "there wasn't anything he couldn't do," including calling league and union matches and giving farm reports.

American radio legend Casey Kasem has died, aged 82.

Kasum, who was recently suffering from failing health and dementia, passed away "surrounded by his family and friends" on Sunday, American fathers day.

Casey Kasum became known around the world as the host of the syndicated program American Top 40. At its peak, the show, heard in almost every radio market in Australia, was syndicated to more than a thousand stations in 50 countries.

Radio, television and voice over veteran James Condon has passed away, aged 90 years.

Known as a pioneering actor and “man of many voices”, he began his career in Radio at 18, with the ABC in Perth in 1942.

He then spent three years flying with the RAAF in World War Two, including operations with Coastal Command in Scotland. Following the war, he returned to the ABC in Western Australia.
