Vale Brendan McGrael and Marty Gittins

Brendan McGrael has passed away from a heart attack.

Brendan' s radio career began at 2VM Moree in 1977. He then worked at 2RG Griffith, where he also presented television news and 2NZ. His other stations included 3TR, 3GL, 3SR, 3MP and Magic 1278.

Last week, former WA radio and tv presenter Marty Gittins passed away.

Marty worked in regional WA at 6KG Kalgoorlie before making his way to Perth on radio and tv. He was on The Channel Niners Club with Gary Shannon in the 1970s, where he played a character called Dunderklumpen

Vale Barry Martin

5MU presenter Barry Martin has passed away.

Barry was diagnosed last year with mouth and jaw cancer and endured several surgeries, a lengthy stay in hospital and daily radiology treatments, but was recently told the cancer had spread to his neck and chest and was inoperable.

Former 2UE Gardening Talkback expert Shirley Stackhouse has passed away at the age of 92.

She was part of 2UE’s weekend gardening show, ‘Over the Fence’ for almost two decades with co-­‐host Phil Haldeman.

Shirley was the author of many gardening books, was also gardening columnist for The SMH, Woman’s Day and New Idea over many years.

She grew up in Brisbane learning her love of gardening from her mother and grandfather, who had a rose nursery. In 2005 she received an Order of Australia medal for services to gardening.

Former 92.9 Perth breakfast team member Paul Redman passed away this morning

He was part of Perth's high-rating Morning Crew with Gary Shannon, Jane Marwick and Bernie Brittain in the 1990s and then moved into sales.

Gary Shannon told 6PR's Simon Beaumont his former colleague and best mate will be remembered as a "guy with a huge heart" who was "loved by so many."

Vale 'The Princess' Caroline Laws

It has been announced this morning on the Talk Back To Me program with Marcus Paul, on 2SM and the Supernetwork, that John Laws’ beloved wife Caroline, whom he referred to as “The Princess,” has passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Paul has posted on social media:

 

“John first met the love of his life at the tender age of 16. At the time Caroline was 14, and they met at a dance at a mutual friend’s Lindfield home in around 1951.

Illawarra broadcaster Peter ‘Croc’ McMurray died on February 10 after a few years of illness.
 
He was 77 years old.

Vale Rod Christopher

Rod Christopher has passed away.

Wayne McCardell has kindly supplied radioinfo with his memories of Rod Christopher.
 

I’ve since been in contact with Rod’s daughter Lissa who confirmed, "Dad had bronchial pneumonia just two weeks before he died. It is likely that the bushfire smoke made him vulnerable to the original infection as it was fierce in this region for quite a while from about November.

Bob Hughes has passed away after an 18 month battle with cancer, aged 67.

His partner Emily posted this message on her facebook page:

My heart aches but I am so glad for the gift of 12 years with this marvellous man. Kind and curious, thoughtful and enthusiastic. He was my Dalai Farmer.

The most romantic man I ever knew. He never stopped courting me.

Those who knew him are invited to raise a glass in his honour at the Friend in Hand (58 Cowper St, Glebe) at 3pm, Sunday 19th January.
