In the USA, the NRSC (National Radio Systems Committee) has completed its evaluation of iBiquity,s FM IBOC digital broadcasting system and endorsed it as the digital radio system for the U.S. The Consumer Electronics Association and the National Association of Broadcasters jointly sponsor the NRSC. The committee’s positive evaluation, declaring IBOC a “significant improvement over today’s analog system” establishes the approval of IBOC by the radio industry and paves the way for commercial rollout of the system in 2002, with the launch of IBOC broadcast transmission equipment at the NAB conference in April and IBOC receivers at CES in January 2003.
