World Radio Day message from UN Secretary General

On the occasion of the eighth World Radio Day on February 13 - an annual celebration of radio as a medium hosted by UNESCO – UN Secretary General António Guterres shared this message.

“Even in today’s world of digital communications, radio reaches more people than any other media platform.

It conveys vital information and raises awareness on important issues.

Journalism, Fake News & Disinformation a handbook for Journalism Education and Training from the UNESCO Series on Journalism Education has been released in Paris.

On 14 January 2013, the United Nations General Assembly formally endorsed UNESCO’s World Radio Day, announcing 13 February, (the day United Nations Radio was established in 1946) as World Radio Day.
