Tamworth Country Music Festival

Australian Country Music’s major Festival in Tamworth has begun, with performances and judgings all building up to the major awards at the end of the month.

The major event, the 31st Toyota Golden Guitar Awards will be held from 7.45pm Saturday, January 25 at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre. The event will this year be webcast live.

This year’s Awards ceremony has attracted a record level of public interest, with Section 1 & 2 tickets sold out within days of their release.

“We have seen interest in attending the awards up from last year,” said CMAA General Manager Kate Nugent. “It’s great to see the public going out of their way to support their country music industry.”

For the first time, three artists Troy Cassar-Daley, Melinda Schneider and John Williamson, have five nominations each. Lee Kernaghan, Sara Storer and Adam Brand have four and Keith Urban, currently riding high in the American country charts, together with newcomer Michael Carr, have three.
