Trainers from SYN will be holding a training weekend at Brophy in Timor Street Warrnambool this Saturday and Sunday from 11 til 4 both days.

The weekend is coordinated by the Waveform Media project helping find the next generation of radio and media stars, a collaboration of 3WAY-FM SYN Media and Brophy Family & Youth Services.

New studios spur new programing for SYN

Youth-run community broadcaster SYN has launched two new radio programming grids, now broadcasting from their new studios in Melbourne’s CBD.
 
SYN’s new radio studios on RMIT University’s City campus are now operating for pre-production, training and live broadcasting on SYN’s two radio stations – SYN 90.7 on FM and SYN Nation on DAB+.

SYN heads to RMIT for World Radio Day

SYN is celebrating World Radio Day on Friday by setting up at RMIT Melbourne, for an OB to acknowledge the power of youth in Radio.

The youth run station will explore the importance of young involvement in radio as well as the unique sustainable power of radio as a medium.

With World Radio Day’s 2015’s theme of media making for-youth-by-youth in mind, SYN promises to provide inspiration to young presenters alongside its regular sweet tunes and good vibes.

Each month, SYN offers two 5 day placements which are available to Year 10 students from all metropolitan and regional secondary schools in Victoria.

SYN Media's General Manager Tahlia Azaria is leaving the Melbourne youth broadcaster to take on a new role as Marketing and Fundraising Officer at the Community Broadcasting Association.

SYN President Andy Lynch paid tribute to Azaria when the news was announced, saying:

"SYN has been extraordinarily privileged to have Tahlia Azaria as General Manager between 2011 and 2014. Across that time Tahlia has expanded the organisation in both capacity and ambition but in a way that has carefully maintained our commitment to community values.

Syn Nation's innovative national youth project

A new community digital radio channel, SYN Nation, run by young people, for young people, has been launched by Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull.


The service is being driven by young leaders based at community radio stations in Byron Bay, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Warrnambool and Gippsland and has been developed by Melbourne-based community youth broadcaster SYN Media.
