RadioDays Europe coverage begins on radioinfo #RDE15

The Radio Days Europe conference has begun in Milan.

radioinfo's two reporters Barry Keohane and Steve Ahern will keep you up to date with what is happening.

In the two days before the conference, the radio stations of Milan mounted a celebration of radio called Radio City Milan, where stations brought their OB vans to a single site near the conference venue to broadcast programs and host talks and performances.

Students in the full time Advanced Radio Course at the Radio Training Institute this week learnt about music directing from RCS expert Mike Pfeiffer.

The twelve students are now in their 4th week of classes and have already had guest lectures from CRA's Joan Warner, radioinfo's Steve Ahern and Pfeiffer, amongst others.

Social Media training for broadcasters in Jakarta

In Jakarta this week a group of broadcasters from TVRI learnt the latest methods in social media reporting, from international trainer Steve Ahern.

As part of the training they filed reports from their smart phones about the course, learning new methods of capturing, editing and uploading content for their broadcast and for the web.

"Social media techniques multiply your message and help you be noticed by new audiences," said Steve.

How long have you been in the industry?   

Over 35 years. I built a radio station in my garage and piped it into the house when I was a teenager, much to the annoyance of my parents and siblings! Somehow the radio bug bit me, I’m not sure why I was interested in radio but I was.

DAB+ radios on show at DBS2014

Radio receiver manufacturers around the world have developed a range of DAB+ radios, with many of them on show at this week's Digital Broadcasting Symposium in Malaysia.

The world's radio industry leaders are making sure radio broadcasts can be heard on all the new digital broadcast platforms, as well as through wifi streaming and on smart phone apps. Many of the receivers pictured use app-like screen displays and are enabled with wifi streaming as well as digital receiver chips.
