State of Origin coverage drop kicks into Nova’s lap

Brisbane’s Nova 106.9 has announced they’ve been ‘called off the bench’ to partner with the Queensland Rugby League as the FM radio partner of the ARL State of Origin in 2007 and the foreseeable future.

Off the back of Nova 106.9’s recent partnership with NRL Premiers, the Brisbane Broncos, this is the icing on the cake for Nova 106.9, which is celebrating its 2nd Birthday this month.

Despite Nova 106.9 securing the leading position for All People in Brisbane within 12 months of launching, station staff say that being associated with Australia’s biggest sporting event is right up there on the radio stations’ highlights to date.

Nova 106.9 General Manager Sean Ryan has told radioinfo: “Like every decision we make at Nova 106.9, it’s about what our listeners want! Queenslanders love their sport and so do we! Rugby League is in the fabric of Brisbane and as a local Brissie radio station, we just had to get involved! We’re stoked that the QRL chose us to partner with them for this quintessential event!”

QRL Managing Director Ross Livermore says the Queensland Rugby League is “delighted” to appoint Nova 106.9 as the official FM radio station for the State of Origin matches in Queensland.
