Breakthrough in search for original State of Origin call

Retired Gold Coast journalist Ross Thompson has revived his 40-year search for a copy of his radio call of the first State of Origin match at Brisbane’s Lang Park in 1980.
Thompson was the lone commercial radio caller to broadcast the match through Tweed station 2MW after all metropolitan stations in Sydney, Brisbane and country areas decided the match would be little more than an exhibition game or a picnic outing for NSW.

Triple M's planeload of maroons in high spirits

Triple M's Marto and Robin Bailey along with league superstars Gordy Tallis and Corey Parker took an entire plane load of Triple M listeners to yesterday's State of Origin match in Sydney.

And it was worth the flight with Queensland beating NSW  to keep the series alive for the decider in Brisbane on July 12.
It would have been a fun fight home for the Queenslanders.

Following confirmation one of the 2019 Origin games will be played in Perth, Anthony Laffranchi has used his Radio 97 morning show segment to call on officials to consider the Tweed as an alternative location to host one of next year's Origin encounters.
"It's a funny one", he told breakfast host Scott Mayman during his regular discussion topic.

The graffiti is thanks to Queensland State of Origin legend Brent Tate ahead of tonight's broadcast.

2ST invades enemy territory for origin

On Wednesday afternoon the Shoalhaven and Southern Highland’s 2ST will be invading enemy territory in the lead up to the State of Origin Decider. 

Moffee will be broadcasting live from the iconic Paddo Tavern in Brisbane from 3–7pm. 

Special guests will include Tommy Raudonikis and Continuous Call Team’s Peter Psaltis, as well as catching up with former NSW players Matt Cooper and Shaun Timmins.

Origin II got off to a horrid start with the minute's silence for the late Ron Clarke ending in disgrace.

Jeers and shouts of “Queenslander” and “Gallen’s a w***er”  were  heard throughout the 60 seconds.

Triple M flies Blues supporters to MCG

Triple M Sydney has chartered a flight alongside the NRL to fly 176 Blues supporters down to the Melbourne for State of Origin Game II.

The Grill Team’s Gus Worland will be boarding the flight and revving up the Blues supporters for the night at the MCG ahead.

MRN expands State of Origin coverage

2GB’s NRL Continuous Call Team, hosted by Ray HadleyDaryl “Big Marn” Brohman, Mark Levy and Mark “Piggy” Riddell, will broadcast the State of Origin game across MRN’s News Talk stations and regional stations in a network first.
The show kicks off at 7.00pm EST tonight, with the live game broadcast commencing at 8.10pm from ANZ Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park and concluding at 10.30pm.
