Star 1045 1st Birthday

Star 1045 on the NSW Central Coast turns one today.

At 5.15pm on 16 March 2004, ‘a new Star was born!’, according to the DMG station.

One year later, Star 1045 has very successfully survived its early childhood and is up and walking, attracting ‘thousands and thousands of Central Coast COASTARs and a sprinkle from the north (Newcastle) and to the south (Sydney)’.

On its first anniversary, Star 1045 has completed a check list or ‘Star Laws’ of promises to the Central Coast:

* Tick – No more than four ads in a row
* Tick – Independence from Sydney stations
* Tick – The coast’s own big sound
* Tick – Freedom to have a say in what you hear
* Tick – A new station which always reflects the true local vibe
* Tick – A soundtrack for the real Central Coast
* Tick – A station which sounds better.

Star 1045 says listeners are constantly saying it has done a pretty good job delivering on the Star Laws’ promises, but it will not rest on its laurels (‘laurels don’t do anything for us!’).

“Our birthday is all about our COASTARs – so we are rewarding them for their ‘local loyalty’ over the past 12 months with $10 000 cash and a cute Hyundai Getz GL from Booths Hyundai, with a few birthday party lollies thrown in for good measure.”

Star 1045 launched 12 months ago, with breakfast presenters, Meshel and Todd, being joined by Enrique Iglesias for the official switch on (Meshel will leave shortly to be part of the breakfast team on Brisbane’s Nova 1069).

Enrique was flown in by helicopter and was the first of a series of music stars on air in the first few hours of the station’s life.
