From penguins to penguin suit

As Senior Producer and Brand Manager of Southern Cross Austereo’s celebrity brand Scoopla, Justin Hill treasures every moment and every selfie.

The Tasmanian went from working at an interactive theme park in Hobart all about Antarctica, to interviewing some of the biggest celebrity names in the business and lost 53 kilos along the way, that’s 13kg more than the  tallest and heaviest of all living penguin species the Emperor Penguin endemic to the South Pole, as Justin could tell you.

Is this proof SCA will roll out the hit brand regionally?

It would appear Southern Cross Austereo’s hit branding will be rolled out regionally sooner rather than later.

A search of, an Internet record listing, identifying who owns a domain and how to get in contact with them shows at least three of SCA’s Sea FM stations, Gold Coast, Hobart and Gosford have registered new domain names.

Brisbane's new hit105 launches

As expected B105 has this morning come into line with SCA’s Today Network dropping its heritage branding and launching as hit105.

The move follows B105 recently marking its 25th Birthday with a reunion and a facebook page full of memories.

Kyle and Jackie O live stream from new Kings Cross studio

Kyle and Jackie O have streamed live from their swanky new high-tech Kings Cross studio this morning, taking their show into the new radio age of multi-faceted broadcasting on multiple media platforms.

This morning the utilised their live streaming ability during a radio competition and allowed listeners to view their show, as well as listen.

SCA responds to 2Day FM sale rumours

Southern Cross Austereo has today addressed rumours of a 2Day FM sale, saying the company is not planning to cut the station lose, despite disappointing results following the departure of Kyle & Jackie O to the Australian Radio Network.

SCA says it will instead rebrand the station, part of a major restructure of the entire radio network, including Adelaide's coveted SAFM.

Weekend breakfast gets a refresh on Perth's mix94.5

Perth's mix94.5 has announced a new show to take over the weekend breakfast show and it is...."Courtney & Eli".

Adelaide's SAFM has just announced that it will be undergoing a major reformatting of the brand and the name SAFM will be no more.

This follows the recent departure of breakfast hosts Hayley Pearson and Michael Beveridge.

The station will be relaunched on Monday, 20 October.

No chairs for Fairfax or SCA

Fairfax Media and Southern Cross Austereo will both be without company chairmen in the coming financial year, as Roger Corbett and Max Moore-Wilton both step down from their positions.

Both chairmen have presided over turbulent times in their companies.

Moore-Wilton was at the helm during the tragic nurse prank and when Kyle and Jackie departed to rival ARN and Corbett (pictured) has been under sustained attack from parties associated with Gina Rinehart, the company's major shareholder.
