The purge at SCA has begun

The redundancies at SCA have begun, with respected MD and programmer Irene Hulme among the first to be shown the door.
 
Irene was part of a restructure at the Hit and Triple M networks in March this year, moving into the role  as Head of Music for the Hit Network and expanding her remit from metro only stations, to the 42 Hit and 4 Hit digital stations.

Nikki Clarkson promoted to a new executive role at SCA

Nikki Clarkson has been promoted to the role of SCA's Chief Marketing & Communications Officer. She will also join the SCA executive leadership team.
 
Clarkson’s appointment is the first in a newly expanded leadership team at SCA, with Southern Cross Austereo CEO, Grant Blackley confirming that the new roles of Chief People & Culture Officer and Chief Content Officer would also join the leadership team once appointments are made.
 

AFTRS graduate Brooke Taylor lands at SCA Shepparton

AFTRS graduate Brooke Taylor was selected as the recipient of SCA’s Hubble Talent Academy Internship Award.
 
Brooke will travel to Shepparton, Victoria where she will start a six-week paid internship from Wednesday, November 6 at Hit96.9 and 95.3 Triple M and she says, “I am beyond excited to be heading down to Shepparton to work with the team! I can’t wait to get my hands dirty doing everything and anything to learn as much as possible during my time there.
 

SCA to add Redwave Media to its stable of stations

Southern Cross Austereo has advised sharholders that it is about to buy WA’s Redwave Media, with RedFM and Spirit AM stations in Broome, Geraldton, Karratha and Port Hedland and Southwest/Bunbury.
 
The purchase from the Seven West Media Group of $28 million is payable in cash and SCA has told investors that “…the acquisition is expected to be earnings per share accretitive in the current year and to generate a return on invested capital above SCA’s hurdle rate of 8.9%.”

Xtra Insights gets to a century of surveys

With the results from the latest Warragul and Geelong regional radio audience measurement surveys (RRAMS) released last week, Xtra Insights has celebrated the 100th RRAMS to be released since the methodology was launched in 2014.
 
In that time 47 regional radio markets have been surveyed under the new methodology, with 87,000+ interviews conducted representing over 5.7 million regional Australians aged 10+.
 

SCA warns shareholders of a revenue drop and share price falls 22%

Southern Cross Austereo has provided shareholders with a trading update warning of a downturn in revenue following an 8.5% decrease in the September quarter figures when compared to the prior year.
 
All commercial radio dropped by 10.2% in the same period and SCA, the owner of the Triple M and Hit Networks, says EBITDA for the first half of this financial year is now expected to be in the range of $60M to $68M.

Triple M Hobart's huge handover for kids

SCA’s annual Give Me 5 for Kids fundraiser launched in June this year, with Triple M Hobart again leading their community in a huge campaign, raising $337,557.04 for the Royal Hobart Hospital’s Children’s Ward.

2GO to go, along with Sea FM and Gold 92.5

On Friday 8th November, two iconic brands on the Central Coast, 2GO and Sea FM disappear, rebranded Central Coast’s 107.7 Triple M and Central Coast’s Hit101.3 respectively.
 
Further up the coastline, The Gold Coast’s Gold 92.5 will become Goldie’s 92.5 Triple M.
