$50 million to support regional news

107 regional publishers and broadcasters who applied to the Public Interest News Gathering (PING) Program will receive a share of $50 million in funding committed to support regional news services in 2020-21. 
 
Of the 107 eligible applicants, there are 13 for radio, 92 publishers and five for television. Three applicants were successful across two streams.

Bunnings tops SCA and Veritonic's first Audio Logo Index study

SCA has partnered with audio intelligence platform Veritonic to produce the first study into the most effective brand audio logos in Australia, with Bunnings and Victoria Bitter taking the top two positions in terms of performance.
 
The landmark Audio Logo Index study used Veritonic’s audio intelligence platform to collect data on the top 26 audio logos in Australia.
 

SCA live streaming grows again in May

Southern Cross Austereo says that as COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease, their live radio streaming remains a constant with more people tuning into Hit and Triple M stations than ever before.
 
May was another record-breaking month for SCA for live radio streaming, which increased another 3% month on month and 42% year on year to reach 1.3 million listeners*.
 
Catch up radio podcasts also had a huge month, rising 47% year on year with 3.4 million downloads^ of popular Hit and Triple M shows.

The podcast will be hosted by PwC Australia Partner and Chief Creative Officer Russel Howcroft, who has become the public face of marketing through his appearances on the ABC’s Gruen.
