Nine Radio analysis: AirCheck Australia

After Nine Radio recently revived the 2UE, Magic 1278 and 4BH brands, AirCheck Australia has analysed the playlist crossovers in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

In Sydney, 2UE and WSFM shared the greatest crossover, sharing almost a third of their playlists, though 2UE played a wider range of music, spinning 142 tracks more than WSFM.
 
The most played track across the two stations was ‘And We Danced’ by The Hooters, earning 46 spins.

Relax and Chill as Nova's Koffee goes cold

Nova has quietly let its Koffee go cold and replaced it with two new relaxing music formats on digital under the smooth brand.

Following the trend set by other networks, Nova Entertainment has streamlined its brand identity so that the new digital stations align with the main smooth brand, which has rated so well in Sydney and Melbourne.

The smooth Festival of Chocolate in The Rocks returns for a fourth year, for a two day chocolate extravaganza, on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th August from 10am.

Set against the backdrop of Sydney Harbour, the smooth Festival of Chocolate in The Rocks sees industry heavyweights Gelato Messina, Black Star Pastry and N2 Gelato headlining alongside new delights - Sweet Therapy‘s Bubble Waffles, Pimp My Chimney’s donut cones filled with soft serve and Zumbo Patisserie’s ski lodge will serve chocolate domes melted with hot chocolate.

Young family pick up a smooth $96k

smoothfm listeners were treated to a heart-warming moment this morning, when 29-year-old Georgie from Torquay won $96,000 after correctly guessing the four smooth stars voices.
 
Mother of two Georgie was extremely emotional when Simon Diaz, smoothfm announcer, confirmed the final voice as Ellen Page and awarded Georgie with a life-changing amount of money. 
 

Did You Know - Sydney radio advertiser crossovers

Did You Know... There was a 37.2% crossover of advertisers between SmoothFM and 2GB on air between 1 - 31 January 2017. That is, 37.2% of the advertisers heard on Smooth in January were also on 2GB in the same period.
 
Of the stations compared, the lowest crossover was between 2UE and WSFM with 21.2% - meaning the two stations have more spots from advertisers that are not airing on the other.

Those were the words of Effie, a Melbourne primary school teacher, after she correctly guessed the four smooth stars voices and won the $95,000 cash jackpot.

Yesterday Effie was in the midst of the morning school run when her call was answered. After calling “at least 200 times the day before,” she was ecstatic when Ty Frost, smoothfm announcer, confirmed her guess of Marlon Jackson and awarded her the life-changing amount of money.
