SCA posts 21% profit fall

Southern Cross Austereo, which operates the Triple M and Hit networks, and also has a regional television affiliation with the Nine network, says revenue for the six months to December 31 has fallen by 5.3 per cent to $333.3 million.

Profit has dropped 21% to $38.2 million, according to figures released today in its half year report to the stock exchange.​​

Earnings dropped to $78.1 million, from $92.6 million a year ago.

Redundancies as Southern Cross Austereo and Vevo part ways

The premium music video and entertainment platform Vevo, of which Southern Cross Austereo secured exclusive rights within Australia for its content and digital inventory in September 2016, has parted ways with SCA. 

The US content platform canceled its local licensing agreement in an apparent global rethink of its partnerships.

Ally Bradley appointed GM of SCA, Tasmania

Ally will manage the day-to-day operations of SCA’s Tasmanian assets.

These include Southern Cross Television operating from Launceston and Hobart, broadcasting the Seven Network channels and also the leading Hobart radio stations, 107.3 Triple M and Hit 100.9.

Ally has had a long career with SCA, starting in Albury in 2000, with stints in SA and regional Victoria and has performed a number of roles including Account Manager, Sales Manager and General Manager.

SCA takes $5 million stake in telco and digital broadcasting startup

SCA has taken an equity stake in OVO Mobile and its digital broadcasting platform, OVOPlay.

The new arrangement is expected to focus on sports broadcast rights, with the telco known for acquiring broadcast rights to niche sports. 

Fairfax reports that the deal will see Triple M and the Hit Network available date-free to OVO Mobile customers on its OVOPlay platform. 

SCA refinances debt facilities through to Jan 2021
