Similar to the age old question of what came first the chicken or the egg, when we think of podcasting, we can ask the same question – what came first, the content or the revenue? 
Chaired by Jamie Chaux from Commercial Radio Australia, four speakers start discussing how people are using podcasts and how advertisers are integrating into on-demand audio.

Southern Cross Austereo CEO Grant Blackley spoke at a Radiodays session in Lausanne, Switzeralnd, hosted by radioinfo’s Steve Ahern, where he gave insights into the business strategies behind SCA’s monetisation strategies for digital radio and podcasting.
SCA’s digital radio strategy is to use the 50% of additional DAB+ spectrum that it owns to aggregate its audience around its two major networks, Hit and Triple M, and to bring all its regional stations into brand harmony with within one of the two networks.

Rear Window article completely inaccurate: Grant Blackley

An article published in today’s Australian Financial Review is “completely inaccurate” according to SCA’s Grant Blackley.
The article comments on Southern Cross Media’s half yearly report, criticising a graph showing comparative total metro network listening across the various commercial networks.

SCA's growth strong, performance ahead of prior year: Half Year results

Southern Cross Media Group revenue has grown by 6.7% in the first half of this financial year.

Radio revenue growth and strong cost control resulted in earnings (EBITDA) of $82 million for the first half.

Net Profit (NPAT) grew 10.6% to $42.2 million, in results announced this morning.

Group revenue was up 0.2% to $335.7 million and debt has been significantly reduced.

The company's audio segment (metro & regional radio and podcasting) delivered a 3.7% growth in revenue and over 7.3% profit growth

Southern Cross Austereo today announced the results of its 24th annual Give Me 5 for Kids fundraiser, this year raising a record-breaking $3,625,037.

The Kennedy Molloy Drive program will be heard on Triple M in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast beginning early next year.
The current Rush Hour with Luke Bradnam and Ben Dobbin will finish in December with its hosts told this week that their contract wouldn’t be renewed for the new year.
