SCA brings back the heritage brands SAFM and B105

“We are calling the radio station the same thing you’ve been calling it for the last five years” and with that statement, B105 was back on Brisbane radio.
 
SCA is bringing back local heritage brands SAFM and B105 from today and adding two well-known locals to the Adelaide and Gold Coast breakfast crews.

As B105 station relaunched its name the newest team member of the breakfast show, Matt, got to achieve his dream:

Friends of a Facebook page "Adelaide Remember When" have shared details of when SAFM, back in 1987 started to dominate the ratings.

It was The Morning Zoo with John Vincent, Grant Cameron and Anne Fulwood.

SAFM commenced broadcasting in 1980 with a call sign of 5SSA and an original on-air ID of "Triple SA-FM" which was soon replaced by "Double SA-FM". It was the first commercial radio station to broadcast on the FM band in Adelaide. Later, it changed its name to "SAFM".

New home for Hit 107 Adelaide

Southern Cross Austereo's Adelaide operation will move out of its Unley studios next week to a shiny new home in an office block in the centre of Adelaide.

The station will relocate from its former home, at 128 Greenhill Rd Unley, to the 13th floor of 70 Franklin St Adelaide.
 

The move coincides with the rebranding of the station from the historic SAFM to the newly introduced Hit name.

Southern Cross Austereo has today addressed rumours of a 2Day FM sale, saying the company is not planning to cut the station lose, despite disappointing results following the departure of Kyle & Jackie O to the Australian Radio Network.

SCA says it will instead rebrand the station, part of a major restructure of the entire radio network, including Adelaide's coveted SAFM.

Adelaide's SAFM has just announced that it will be undergoing a major reformatting of the brand and the name SAFM will be no more.

This follows the recent departure of breakfast hosts Hayley Pearson and Michael Beveridge.

The station will be relaunched on Monday, 20 October.

Hayley and Michael quit SAFM breakfast

SAFM breakfast duo Michael and Hayley told their audience this morning that they have decided to finish up on the breakfast shift.

Hayley Pearson and Michael Beveridge's last broadcast will be on October 10th.

After years of early morning radio starts, Hayley, who is pregnant with her second child, is looking forward to a change of pace and spending more quality time with her husband Jimmy, young son Austin, and upcoming new addition to the family.

Burgo dumped from SAFM breakfast

The SAFM breakfast show will be hosted by Michael and Hayley, without Burgo, from now on.

SAFM posted this message on its facebook page today, saying Ryan 'Burgo' Burgess is no longer with the show:

We have chosen to make a change to the SAFM line up and confirm Burgo will not continue with his role as anchor on the SAFM breakfast show.

Listeners will continue to enjoy the great on air chemistry between Michael and Hayley and we are committed to ensuring they will have a great show to listen to in the mornings.
