Russell Tate’s 2GB email not so reassuring to staff

Macquarie Radio Network chairman and acting CEO Russell Tate has written to night time staff telling them that a review of their shifts is underway. The email was meant to be reassuring after Sue Javes’ Herald column this week suggested that their jobs were on the line. An article in the rival Telegraph today says the email has had the opposite effect.

The email said:

“As you are aware our entire program line-up, outside of breakfast, morning, afternoon and drive has been the subject of a full review … no decisions have been finalised and I would not expect them to be for a week or so.

“When they are finalised you will hear about them from Ian Holland and me before you read about them.”

The Telegraph quotes a station source saying the presenters feel like “dead men wallking.”
