CBAA gets funding to extend mental health awareness on community airwaves

Today, on World Suicide Prevention Day and R U OK Day?, Health Minister Greg Hunt has announced the extension of funding for the CBAA’s National Suicide Prevention Project, as part of the Australian Government’s Department of Health’s National Suicide Prevention and Leadership Support Program.

Stations all over Australia featured interviews and segments  this week for the suicide prevention charity R U OK.

It is the 10th year of the campaign, which seeks to make everyone aware of how to look after their mates by asking a simple question of support.

On Triple M, Gus Worland spoke to Jimmy Barnes about how he has faced his demons.

On tonight's Shazam Top 20, Angus O’Loughlin and Ash London, spoke with international recording artist, Demi Lovato, around anxiety and depression and how to open the lines of communication around mental health on R U OK Day.

Lovato imparts her advice to anyone who may be struggling with a mental health issue or for someone who may want to help a friend or family member.

In the spirit of R U OK Day, Lovato’s message of asking people if they are ok, hits home and inspires people to speak up.
