Audience swells again for Resonate's Hawaiian venture

Australian based broadacter Resonate's The Wave @92FM on Hawaii’s Big Island has again claimed the number one position for all people under 65 according to the most recent Eastlan radio survey.
The station continues to dominate younger demographics, despite the attempt by a competitor to flip formats and copy The Wave’s winning formula. 

A radio prank for good, not evil

A prank, by definition is a practical joke. Although not necessarily practical for the target or the butt of the joke, it is a very practical way for the station to entertain a target audience - albeit at someone else's expense.

Some would argue that making someone feel good is just as practical, if not more so, than making them feel bad.

Well here’s a prank sent to us by Australian ex-pat Keith “Chook” Fowler who runs Resonate’s stations in Hawaii.

A fascinating side issue that’s emerged from the merger of Fairfax Radio and Macquarie Radio Network is the announcement that they are going to sell off 2CH in Sydney and a number of stations in North Queensland; 4VL, Triple CCC FM, 4HI, 4ZR, 4LM, 4SB and Hot Country.

The QLD stations were collectively known as The Smart Radio Network before they were acquired by MRN from Brad Smart in 2011 for around $6 million.

After 23 years with the company, the last 17 years as a Content Director, Rex Morris has handed in his notice. He’ll be leaving SCA at the end of the month to spend more ttime on growing the business he co-founded in 2008,  Resonate Broadcasting.

Rex said, "I've always known that at some stage I'd have to make a call between working for the greatest broadcasting company in the world, and the one I co-founded with some amazing people in 2008."
