Rebel 99.4 may contravene QLD anti-bikie laws

Police may be confused this weekend by a Gold Coast charity bike ride by Rebel 99.4FM.

‘The Rebel Motorbike Ride for Movember’ sounds suspiciously like an outlaw ride since it includes the name of a declared outlaw motorcycle club.

Rebel 99.4FM Promotions Manager, Ashley Palmero says the Sunday ride is not a protest against the new anti-bikie laws, but a ride to raise money for Movember and Beyond Blue, fighting male depression. Ashley explains: “The radio station has no alliance with any motorcycle group. We support the Gold Coast Police efforts and would welcome them to join our ride to help bring awareness to these charities and to show that we can all ride together for a good cause.”

He says they are hoping to avoid public confusion by having a sign-written Rebel 99.4FM car to lead the ride on Sunday.

The ride leaves at 10am, this Sunday November 24 from Shark Leathers, 142 Siganto Dr, Helensvale and heads out to Beaudesert, Jimboomba, Logan Village, Tamborine Village then Beenleigh, before returning at 1pm.

You can join the Rebel 99.4FM motorbike ride via their website or through their Facebook page. There’s a $25 entry fee and all riders including pillion passengers go into the draw to win 2 nights at Crowns Plaza Surfers Paradise.
