Radio still reaches 88% of adults in the UK: RAJAR

In RAJAR’s latest Measurement of Internet Delivered Audio Services (Midas) survey in the UK, live radio continues to dominate with a weekly reach of 88% among all people 15+.

 

Radio also had a 72% share of audio consumed and 79% of new music discoverers still consider radio important for finding new content.

The release of the Autumn/Q3 RAJAR figures from the UK has shown a distinct difference in the type of audio consumed on Smart Speakers and Smart Phones, and for the first time, Headphones.

According to the research, 75% of all listening done on a Voice Activated Speaker such as an Amazon Echo, Google Home or Sonos1 is to Live Radio.

UK listenership declines slightly for the 2nd year

The Q4 2018 RAJAR results just released show that 48.4 million people, or 88.4% of the UK’s adult population, listened to their radio station of choice every week and marks a second consecutive year of fourth-quarter decline for radio, with 89.7% in Q4 2017 and 90.1% in Q4 2016.

While there has been a decline in numbers over the past two years, there have only been a small fluctuations since 2011 with highs in 2013, 2015 and 2016
