Topical meet up discusses regulation #RDAsia19

One innovative highlight of the first Radio Days Asia conference was the ' Topical Meet-ups'.

During the mid-morning coffee and tea break on day one delegates got the hands on opportunity to discuss their favourite aspect of radio with like minded individuals along with an expert moderator.

Meet - ups included the following themes;  Technology , Increasing revenue , Women in radio, Radio content innovation ,  fake news and Podcasters.

The inaugural Radiodays Asia conference took place this week in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

Across the two days the sessions were data driven with excellent research analysis while also highlighting how radio & podcasting are intertwined from a listener perspective.

Michael Hill from Radioplayer says “defending the dash board for radio” must be one of the world radio industry’s biggest priorities.

“We have to work together globally and establish standards and interfaces. We also have to offer plug and play and pitch a vision to the global car companies.

“Car companies think globally, so we have to link up as radio across the world to go forward with our own strategies. We cannot rely on Google, Amazon and Tune to help radio, they have their own business agendas.”

“It is tempting to assume that we have listeners by the ears because they can’t skip radio… but our listeners will still skip ads mentally if the creative is not good enough.

“Radio advertising is not about spots on air, it is about communication,” says Ralph van Dijk from Eardrum.

Ralph urges stations to make ads that will make their listeners go from “passive hearing to active listening.”

Mike Kasem, the son of legendary American Top 40 presenter Casey Kasem, will speak at the upcoming Radiodays Asia conference next month.
The Gold 90.5 Singapore breakfast presenter will discuss formats, with his co-host Vernetta, on a panel of high profile presenters from around the Asian region.
In a separate session he will also talk more personally about his own journey through radio and about his famous father.
