Next chapter in the podcast phenomenon released: S-Town

The producers of the ground breaking Serial podcast have just released a new story.

John despises his Alabama town and some of the people in it. He calls it S**t Town. 

John decides to do something about it, and asks a reporter to investigate the son of a wealthy family who’s allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But then someone else ends up dead, sparking a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man’s life.

ABC and The Australian win Walkley Award audio categories

Winners of the 61st Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism were presented tonight in a ceremony in Brisbane.

More than 600 journalists and media identities gathered in the Plaza Ballroom of Brisbane’s Convention and Exhibition Centre for the gala event hosted by Sky News’ David Speers.

Winners were announced in 34 categories, with the Gold Walkley going to freelance photographer Andrew Quilty for his extraordinary work covering Afghanistan, and his powerful photo “The Man on the Operating Table.”

Powerstruggle Podcast with Simon Baggs and Astra

Aussie radio announcer Simon Baggs has been travelling for months and has ended up in the USA.

He would love to get a green card and work there for a while.

We know all this because he has revealed it in his latest podcast.

Baggs has launched a podcast with Astra, the drive host on NEW 92.3 New York.

Currently based in LA, Baggs does the podcast using skype to connect with his co-host in NY.

Broadcaster and radioinfo correspondent Ian MacRae has launched a fortnightly podcast inspired by his first book of fiction "The Wilton Bay Chronicles", in which there are two competing radio stations in an idyllic beachside town.

WBFM is a network station playing The Music of Your Life and the other The Seventh Wave.

Audiocraft is a day for radio producers, podcasters and documentary storytellers to come together and talk, listen, and learn about making great stories with sound.
 
Practical workshops and discussions will be led by innovators from public, community and independent radio.
 
They’ll explore narrative techniques, podcasting nuts and bolts, creative sound design, the rules of making good radio and when to break them. 
 
The conference is happening at Redfern’s 107 Projects on Saturday March 5th 2016.
