Peter Brennan appointed ABC Radio NSW content manager

Things are looking up in the Brennan family. While Peter Brennan has been named as ABC Radio’s new ABC Local Content Manager for NSW, dad John is back on his feet after a serious illness and was looking good at the recent Radio Awards.

Both are former 2GB program directors, but while John is well and truly retired, Peter will begin work at Aunty this week.

Manager Metropolitan Local Radio Jeremy Millar, who held the position before being promoted to his new role, says Brennan’s appointment is an exciting one for ABC Local Radio:

“Peter has an excellent track record with developing and nurturing new and existing talent. This coupled with his knowledge of digital channels will help strengthen our content offering both on-air and online.”

“As the network continues to expand the media through which we deliver content to our audience, Peter’s leadership will be invaluable to his team and help ensure ABC Local Radio in NSW continues to provide a robust content offering to an increasingly sophisticated audience.”

Brennan joins ABC Local Radio after an extensive career in radio and television, most recently at the Macquarie Radio Network (MRN). Over a four year period at MRN he held the positions of Program Director 2GB, where he was responsible for driving the day-to-day running of the station, and as the Program Director Digital, overseeing the creation of original content for the network’s digital division.

Over the course of his career, Brennan has spent time both on-air and as a radio producer in regional NSW, program director of radio 5AA in Adelaide and the Sky Radio Network in Sydney, along with stints at TV stations Ten and Nine.

Brennan will oversee 11 ABC Local Radio stations across the state, including 702 ABC Sydney, along with their online sites and content development activities. He will manage and coordinate ABC Local Radio in New South Wales and exercise editorial control over all locally commissioned and live programming.
