NRN goes live on Election Night for Community Radio stations

As part of its new changes, community radio’s National Radio News network will run a series of special election evening reports.

NRN Chief Executive, James Montgomery, has told radioinfo about the special event coverage:

“It will start at 6.00pm and run every hour on the hour to midnight, in our normal, four minute format. We have arranged for seats in the Canberra Tally Room and we will quarterback it from our newsroom here at Bathurst with its multiple TV feeds.

“This is available to all of the Community Broadcasters –not just our subscribers – giving it potential exposure of millions of people, according to the recent survey.”

As well as the election special, the community radio news service is also planning to boost its sport and regional coverage:

“I have been able to hire two new journalists with good backgrounds in sport and regional affairs. You can expect to see a boost in our sports’ segments and look to us for more regional opinions on the day’s key news stories.”
